This poem is a woman's cry when she realizes her individuality is taken away, her soul is getting killed in the name of ideal society. She faces it and finally opens up her mind before her lover-her soulmate- the almighty!!
When my world was crashing all around
When my soul was crying not to be bound
When my eyes were swollen with pains of despair
Oh! how I missed my crazy flair
you couldn't see it..
but it was there
Yes it was there
so very near
I was dying a slow death
The tongue was frozen with it
I couldn't realize it was in bits
Everything inside was in haste
Oh! how sweet was it to taste
you couldn't see it..
but it was in me
the poison so sweet
so very sweet
that I was dying a slow death
Stop me please, if only you could
As i had thought only you would
Save me please from this plight
where everything seems not so right
coz you couldn't see it..
but its going to happen
slowly but yes its there
so very near
that i am dying a slow death
My slow so very slow death...
Ah, so painful to read it, but why is it happen to women only? I guess I don't have any answer to this question...
ReplyDeleteWHy it happens to women? Not only oppression Alok but even biologically why women go through so much? Why even the birth process that makes them divine is so painful for them...Are they any lesser beings? These are some of the questions I need the answer too.. One day we'll get to know perhaps..
DeleteAbsolutely Roohi, there are so many things which need to meant for women only, not made by we human being, but made by nature or God whoever you say. But why for them only? Hopefully one day...
DeleteIt's indeed soulful, Roohi. Really paining to read your thoughts here. This is the truth? Possibly yes, because they say truth is painful!!!
ReplyDeleteIts painful I can guess.. But most of the time oppressed women don't realize what exactly is happening.. They get conditioned.. otherwise, they would stand against the oppression, rt? :)
DeleteSome make it a part of their lives and some have the courage to voice them...pain unnaturally natural to women, I like your answer to Alok. The poem is honest and soulful.
ReplyDeleteVery True, Shweta.. and sometimes the courage is silenced..
DeleteDid not understand Shweta, if you are saying my response was somehow wrong? :)
DeleteOh no no Alok.. It can't be as your comment is on same side as my poem and my response.. Shweta is just pointing to my response.. :)

DeleteSuch a profound expression of a woman's feelings!!! As I grew up I could not understand lot of things around me, since childhood girls are expected to adhere to the societal rules, they indirectly are being trained to stay in that society. And if she raises her opinion and takes a stand, she becomes a rebel. Both ways its painful for her only.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. though modern society does boast of having independent women and understanding men, still its a far far way to go.. but that still won't solve the biological issues.. guess, birth in the mortal world is destined for pain..
DeleteThis is so moving. Achingly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteComing from you Saru, it made me day.. I love your poems :)
Deletetouching i think time for the women to stand up tall and take what they deserve..
ReplyDeleteBikram's
Believe me Bikram, some women are doing that :)
